June is here and so its our Josephine Suite available for bookings! We finally finished the renovation of our second apartment and couldn't be more proud of it. In addition to a full kitchen, gorgeous bathroom and 3 bedrooms, you will have a patio overlooking the garden to yourself. You might see us here and there working on various projects, stop by and say hello!

When you come and stay with us, make sure to visit the extraordinalry city of Angers that is only about 37km away. Leave your car near the Chateau d'Angers and get lost in the city! We loved walking its streets without any map, without really knowing where to go. I highly recommend visiting its antique stores and galleries, you might be very pleasantly surprised by what you can find there. Just touring the Chateau d'Angers takes about 2 hours but spend there another hour or so to really soak it all in. So worth it!

We have a new family member! His name is Maxi and he is the most lovable and cuddly cat you can imagine. We adopted him from a rescue and he is now living his best life. When you visit, he will most likely come by to say hello to you, might ask you for a few back scratches or will dart off onto a tree. We are trying to teach him how to become a cat but it seems like he prefers relaxing on a velvet sofa.

It's been unusually rainy winter but whenever there are couple of dry days we try to do something around the property. It's been decided that we will plant lavender around the Chateau as well as red roses in the planters in front of it. It actually wasn't easy to prepare the planters for the roses as there were small trees growing in them and we had a hard time pulling their established roots. But we managed, and here is the result! ❤ And that pink rose you see? It came with the Chateau. I am currently trying to propagate it from its cuttings. Wish me luck because it is not easy but wouldn't it be wonderful to have more of them?

Spring is around the corner and we are ready for it!

I am melting like an ice cream! Help! 🫠Our neighbor's sheep just had 2 babies! 2 little, fluffy, adorable lambs that are about 48 hours old.
They follow their mama everywhere and she also makes sure that nobody is there to harm them. Quietly I am wishing I could just stand by their fence to soak in their fluffiness, and just observe them be! I'm melted!

Reminiscing sunrise from few months ago as it is still pitch dark at 7am. Same spot (almost), about the same time. The poplar tree grove is now cleared from shrubs and we can walk the area again. Whats's pretty intresting, it's a mini island (our private island?) as it is sourrounded by water on 3 sides. The 4th side is fenced. We have some ideas how to utilize that small peice of land; this spring will surely start busy!

Christmas season is upon us, and that also means that we are almost ready to host our first guests. It has been a bumpy road to get here, but we made it. We are very grateful to be given the opportunity to call the Chateau our home and are hoping for many memorable days here. This year for a little Christmas craft we decided to make the wreath entirely out of French vintage ornaments. I am pretty happy how they turn out; they add so much sparkle to the room! Also what makes me kind of happy is the fact that we were able to reuse so many of those ornaments, that otherwise would be discarded because they originally came out of multipacks. Wishing all of you, Dear Readers, a healthy and prosperous 2024!

We just came back from a short trip to Boston and it was a lovely trip. We visited all the places we love most about the city like the Boston's public garden, the library, Newbury St, Prudential Center, and such. It will always feel like home to us, however, we missed our new home is France as well. These kinds of breaks make us understand how we want to see our future in France.

We are finally out of our rental and into our own property. We arrived in France in the late July of 2023, and I think we underestimated the amount of work that needed to be done at the 2 adjacent apartments. We needed to start with updating the basics, like the electrical systems, and everything else as well. If I am correct, the apartments haven't been painted in over 40 years so we swiftly rolled up our sleeves and got to work.
The result of the past 3 months of work is the Napoleon Suite, which we are very proud of.

Fall is almost here but it still feels very much like summer. We spend our days doing various renovation work; also, school started and we are trying to get used to the new routine. Once a week, usually on Sundays, we try to go on a mini trip and see the nearby Chateaux out of curiosity, but also to gain some inspiration since so much work is still ahead of us.

We arrived in France 2 weeks ago and are slowly trying to adjust to our new life here. The food is excellent, the views are spectacular, and the weather has been wonderful. However, we encountered a few obstacles right from the start, and are currently in the rental (not sure for how long). Nevertheless, we are certainly enjoying the countryside and its beauty, and are continuing to discover new things around the property.
